This game began as a collaboration between Sega and an independent Sonic fan gaming group. Perhaps that's one reason we had to add more excellent games to this list. Sonic Mania is perhaps the best-known of the games on this list mainly due to it being available for the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Windows. Curiously, unlike Nintendo, Sega has given the "okay" to fan-made games - provided no money exchanges hands.
Of course, not every company looks kindly on fans who choose to express their love in the form of games. This patch will update any version of the game to the much more friendly 2004 port, with the Sonic R Mod Loader included, along with a few helpful mods for it. Think about all the famous game franchises from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras – every one of those games has a mountain of fan-made games. Sonic R Updater is a patch for the PC ports of Sonic R. Many of the great game series of yore have incredibly loyal fan bases that refuse to let their beloved franchises languish in the past.
